THE ASSOCIAZIONE VELICA LIDO SAILING ASSOCIATION WAS FOUNDED IN 1979 BY A FEW DINGHY SAILING ENTHUSIASTS.

Today, the club has over 150 members, who are involved in the many activities of the AVL.

The AVL is especially active in the youth sector, through the Italian Sailing Federation’s VelaScuola project. Every year, over 300 pupils from the primary and lower secondary schools of Lido and Pellestrina allow the AVL to enter the schools during curricular hours with the aim of promoting a nautical culture among the pupils.

In the summertime, sailing courses are organised for children and young people from 6 to 15 years of age. The AVL also has two competitive groups of athletes aged 7 to 17, Optimist and Laser, and takes part in competitions throughout Italy.

Lastly, the AVL organises an event that is now repeated annually, the Primavera Dinghy Championship, which has allowed a visible development of this class within the Venetian Lagoon in recent years.
