Summer between Lido and Venice: events and traditions

Events

Concerts under the stars, historical regattas, cinema and ancient folk festivals: discover everything waiting for you in the most beautiful months of the year.

Summer awakens between the narrow streets and canals, the sound of waves on the shore, and the desire to be together. In Venice and the Lido, the hottest months mean more than just beach and relaxation: it’s a succession of events weaving together art, music, sports, and tradition.

Discover what awaits you this summer, between starlit emotions and ancient celebrations.

Concerts in St. Mark’s Square (2–13 July 2025)
The magic of music meets one of the world’s most iconic places. From 2 to 13 July 2025, St. Mark’s Square becomes a grand open-air theater, hosting an extraordinary concert series. Jean-Michel Jarre opens with his futuristic soundscapes, followed by the lyrical allure of Casanova OperaPop. Patti Smith brings her rock poetry to the square, and the La Fenice orchestra offers a grand symphonic concert. Closing the series, the intimate and dreamlike notes of Ludovico Einaudi paint an unforgettable summer portrait.

19th International Festival of Contemporary Dance
The body becomes a universal language during the 19th International Festival of Contemporary Dance. Renowned choreographers, rising talents and international companies gather in Venice to redefine, movement by movement, the meaning of “dance.” Site-specific performances, shows in historic spaces and artist talks make this festival a living celebration of contemporary creativity.

Feast of the Redeemer
One of the most beloved events by Venetians, the Feast of the Redeemer lights up the lagoon in mid-July with its display of lights, faith and community. It commemorates the end of the 1575–77 plague with a traditional pilgrimage to the Church of the Redeemer on the Giudecca island, via a votive bridge. In the evening, a spectacular fireworks display colors the sky and water in a breathtaking dance of light.

Venice International Film Festival
Cinema becomes pure art at the Venice International Film Festival, the oldest in the world. On the red carpet of the Lido, international stars, visionary directors and impactful works take center stage. Beyond the glamour, the festival also offers reflection and discovery, with eagerly awaited premieres, auteur films and conversations about the future of cinema.

Historical Regatta
A plunge into Renaissance Venice, with thrilling races and costumed parades. Held every year on the first Sunday of September, the Historical Regatta is one of the city’s most spectacular and heartfelt events. Ancient boats, rowers in period dress and crowds lining the Grand Canal create a timeless atmosphere where passion for rowing meets history.

The Venice Glass Week
Blown glass returns to the spotlight with The Venice Glass Week, the international festival dedicated to glass art. Between Venice, Murano and the Lido, exhibitions, workshops, guided tours and live demonstrations celebrate the centuries-old craft tradition that continues to captivate the world. A unique opportunity to discover the secrets of this fragile yet powerful material.

69th International Festival of Contemporary Music
La Biennale di Venezia dedicates a rich program of premieres, concerts and sonic experiments to contemporary music. Renowned composers and young talents explore new musical languages, pushing the boundaries of sound. An annual event that renews the dialogue between tradition and the avant-garde.

Venetian and island festivals
Between June and August, summer is also enlivened by traditional festivals held in different areas of Venice and its islands. These are authentic celebrations, with local wines, traditional dishes and dancing under the stars. A simple and genuine way to experience Venice like the locals, with real flavors and joyful gatherings.

Music, dance, cinema, tradition: every event is an invitation to experience Venice and the Lido with fresh eyes, letting yourself be surprised by their timeless energy. Here, summer is never just a season – it’s an experience to treasure.
