Barrier-free sailing at Venice Lido

The Venice section of the Lega Navale Italiana has long had a close collaboration with the San Camillo Hospital Foundation with the aim of bringing people with disabilities closer to the sea and the practice of water sports.

The Nautical Base is located at Venice Lido (Malamocco), and features a barrier-free jetty, equipped with a crane for direct transfer from wheelchair to boat and easily accessible via a long, easy walkway.

Thanks to the “Vela per tutti” initiative, it is possible to request, directly to the Nautical Base management, to practice sailing thanks to two “Hansa 303” boats, specially designed for this purpose. In addition, we would like to point out the possibility of taking a short tour of the area in front of the Nautical Base with a specially equipped dinghy, aimed to accommodate people with motor disabilities.

Below are the details of the offer valid in 2023:

DINGHY TOUR

• Requests must be made with 48 hours’ notice by contacting the numbers below;
• Compulsory membership of Lega Navale Italiana, the annual cost of which is:
  • € 5.00 for the disabled person
  • € 10.00 for the accompanying person
• Costs: € 35.00 for one hour’s use of the boat, which includes boat and driver
• Boarding at the Malamocco Nautical Base.

OUTING WITH “HANSA 303” BOAT

• Requests must be made with 48 hours notice by contacting the numbers below;
• Compulsory membership of Lega Navale Italiana, the annual cost of which is:
  • € 5.00 for the disabled person
  • € 10.00 for the accompanying person
• Duration of outing: 45 minutes;
• Costs: € 15.00 for use of dinghy in assistance with driver;
• The sailing expert provides free service.

SAILING COURSE WITH THE “HANSA 303” BOAT

It is possible to apply for a sailing course, which will be regulated as follows:

• The request must be made with 48 hours’ notice by contacting the numbers below;
• Compulsory membership of Lega Navale Italiana, the annual cost of which is:
  • € 5.00 for the disabled person
  • € 10.00 for the accompanying person
• Course duration 8 hours: two days with two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon;
• Cost € 200.00, which includes the use of the dinghy in assistance and sailing expert.
