A Bridge Between Territories – The Lido of Venice on an Institutional Mission to Nuremberg
The institutional trip to Nuremberg was an opportunity to strengthen a vibrant and constructive dialogue between two communities that share profound values, such as a strong focus on culture, sports, and quality of life.
For the Lido of Venice, it represented an important moment that reinforces its international vocation and its strategic role within the Venetian tourism system.
On the first day, the Venetian delegation—composed of representatives from the City of Venice, the “Consorzio Venezia e il suo Lido,” and the “Pro Loco Lido e Pellestrina”—engaged in discussions about potential cooperation between the two cities. The program included visits to significant local institutions, starting with the Golf Club am Reichswald Nürnberg. Here, through an exchange with the sports center’s managers, joint projects and exchange initiatives were explored, with the goal of fostering excellence in both destinations through sport and hospitality.
The visit continued at the Chamber of Commerce, where, together with the Councillor for Tourism of the City of Venice, Simone Venturini, new prospects for economic and tourism cooperation were examined, aiming to highlight the specific strengths of both territories and encourage shared opportunities. The day concluded at Nuremberg City Hall during the opening of the famous Christmas Market. The meeting with Mayor Marcus König and City Councillor for Schools and Sports Cornelia Trinkl sealed a symbolically significant moment, further strengthening institutional relations in a climate of genuine hospitality.
The second day clearly confirmed the shared intention to launch a stable, forward-looking collaboration. The itinerary began at the Albrecht Dürer House—an iconic site of European art history—opening the door to potential cultural initiatives centered on the artistic heritage and international orientation of both cities.
The delegation was then welcomed at the Correspondent Office of the Consulate General, where Gunther Kreuzer, representing the consular office in Nuremberg, and Sergio Maffettone, Consul General of Italy in Munich, participated in the meeting. The discussion with Comites President Nicoletta De Rossi and representatives of the Italian community active in the area offered valuable insights and proposals for collaboration. Representing the Lido were Michela Cafarchia, President of the “Consorzio Venezia e il suo Lido,” and Simonetta Busulini and Guglielmo Serafini for the Pro Loco, contributing to a lively and future-oriented dialogue.
Every meeting highlighted a shared vision that looks to the future with confidence and ambition. Nuremberg and Venice recognized each other as natural partners, united in the desire to promote their heritage and create cultural, tourism, economic, and sports value. The Lido of Venice, with its unique identity suspended between sea, nature, and culture, confirmed its role as an active and forward-thinking interlocutor.
This journey marks the beginning of an open bridge for dialogue—an important step toward new collaborations and shared growth, with people and their stories at the center.
